Dr. Melissa McLaughlin was born and raised in the Saint John River Valley in the village of Perth-Andover, New Brunswick. She graduated from Southern Victoria High School in 1995 and then attended the University of New Brunswick on an educational scholarship from 1995-1999; Dr. McLaughlin graduated with honors and received her Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Biology. In 2003, Dr. McLaughlin graduated from the University of Waterloo School of Optometry with her Doctorate of Optometry and relocated to Meadow Lake. Dr. McLaughlin specializes in contact lenses, pediatric eye exams, ocular health and diabetic health eye assessments. She is also qualified to provide pre-operative and post-operative assessments for refractive laser surgery and cataract surgery. She is also qualified to diagnose and treat ocular infections and diseases and perform foreign body removals. Dr. McLaughlin, her husband Blair and their two children, Danica and Connor, love wide open spaces, they enjoy camping, boating, quading, hunting, fishing, kayaking, snow-shoeing, snowmobiling, x-country skiing and spending time outdoors. Dr. McLaughlin also loves to cook, bake and garden, so if you have a good recipe she would love to hear about it!
